Elliott Sturtevant

Elliott Sturtevant is a PhD Candidate in Architecture at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University. His dissertation, “Empire’s Stores,” seeks to understand the imperial formations of corporate capitalism in the Americas during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His work has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society and Center for Science and Society at Columbia University, and the Hagley Museum & Library and he is the recipient of numerous awards, including the AIA Henry Adams and RAIC medals. Sturtevant previously trained as an architect at the University of Toronto, where he was a Daniels Scholar, and worked as a Research Assistant at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal. He is currently an Editorial Assistant at the Buell Center and Managing Editor of the Aggregate Architectural History Collaborative’s online publishing platform we-aggregate.org.
