Robert Mohr

I was born in Libya and raised in both Pakistan and Iowa, and during my professional life I have worked across the US, Europe and North Africa. I now live in Rhode Island, between the woods and the sea, and teach regularly at MIT’s Department of Architecture.

My interests are broad, and all stem from a belief that architects should be responsible members of society and stewards of our planet. I believe strongly in the potential of architecture and urban design to reveal, engage with, and speak to profound questions of social, cultural and environmental urgency. Over the years, I have been able to work on projects of many types and scales, from the domestic to the urban and territorial, and all the while I have been interested in exploring how an expanded role for the architect can lead to more successful and meaningful places and a more robust profession.
