Jay Arena

Jay Arena lived and worked as a community and labor organizer in New Orleans for over twenty years and is the author of Driven From New Orleans: How Nonprofits Betray Public Housing and Promote Privatization (2012, University of Minnesota Press). He is currently an Associate Professor of Sociology at CUNY’s College of Staten Island and is now writing a book on the contending movements to privatize and defend public schools in Newark, New Jersey.
