Dr. Monica Farris is an Associate Professor-Research and the Director of the University of New Orleans’ Center for Hazards Assessment, Response and Technology (UNO-CHART) at the University of New Orleans. Her current applied research includes the examination of local repetitive flood loss data to assist communities in the identification of appropriate mitigation strategies, hazard mitigation planning, implementation of the Community Rating System, and education and outreach focused on disaster resilience. Dr. Farris has published on the subject of building capacity for disaster resilience and has presented multiple times on risk reduction and disaster planning.
